GB News viewers were left furious over the latest update on the ongoing migrant crisis. Nana Akua halted the programme to announce the breaking news that 83 migrants that are set to be placed in new builds worth £250,000 in Shropshire. Residents in Stoke Heath say they have been left stunned by the plans for the 21 new build properties, with the estate already been dubbed “Migrant Street” locally.
Benjamin Butterworth sparked outrage with his response to the news, as he told the presenter: “250k is a very typical price for a house in this country, so it’s hardly luxury.” The presenter argued that £250,000 would get you a “pretty good house” in the north east.
Butterworth hit back: “Let’s not try and pretend that 83 refugees is what’s causing the housing problem.”
Leo Kearse claimed this is just a “snapshot of the problem” with the asylum system, adding: “This isn’t disincentivising people who want to come here because they know they’re going to be welcomed in by a left-wing establishment.”
The frustrated broadcaster and comedian argued that the Labour government is keen on welcoming asylum seekers into the country because it secures their vote in elections.
He raged: “The real cost lies in the social damage that this will do and in the children and the women that will be victimised by this. I don’t care if these people are fleeing nasty things, we can’t take in everybody in the world.”
Kearse added: “We’ve got to think of the British people first!”
The update led viewers sharing their complaints about the migrant issue in the UK, with one writing on X: “Sorry but if there’s not enough homes for families or the veterans that fought for this and sleeping rough then how is this right? So much for their human rights as usual!!”
A second furious viewer said: “It’s disgusting that they will be given those homes which will be fully loaded.”
A third raged: “They’ll send photos back home showing off their free house , and of course it will encourage more to come to grab their free new home,” followed by an angry face emoji.
