Yes, she has been readmitted after apologising for a social media post in which she referred to the Israeli Defense Forces as the “Jewish Defence Force”.

Laughably, her return from exile has nothing to do with the change of prime minister. And if you believe that you’ll believe your taxes won’t go up under Labour.

Her return says everything you need to know about the direction of travel for Britain under Burnham and his cut-price buses. It spells disaster.

Don’t be fooled by the dreamlike fuzziness of Burnham’s videos, Labour is nasty – it’s embedded in its DNA.

Abbott was initially turfed out for suggesting Jewish, Irish and Traveller people “undoubtedly experience prejudice” but “they are not all their lives subject to racism”. She likened the prejudice those groups experience to that faced by redheads.

After a faux apology she was readmitted before the 2024 General Election, but doubled down on her original claim that Jews do not suffer the same racism as black people.

In an interview with the BBC (who else) she said she did not regret her comments and was suspended again.

Her life in the wilderness as an independent MP has now come to an end after being welcomed back by Burnham.

The chilling rise of open prejudice and hate in the UK – the kind perpetrated by the drivel spouted by Abbott – is attributed to a feeling among British Jews that they are being targeted with impunity.

She led a rebellion against proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation at a time antisemitic hate crimes have overtaken Islamophobic incidents with more reported abuses of Jews than Muslims.

What we are seeing unfold after Burnham’s putsch should make us all tremble with fear.

Early in his leadership, Sir Keir Starmer purged Jeremy Corbyn from the party in an attempt to stamp out anti-Semitism.

After Brazen Burnham arrived in Downing Street unopposed, she repeatedly promised to end “factionalism” within Labour. The Messiah without a Mandate said he would not use party discipline to “stifle debate”.

He has already promoted three members of the Socialist Campaign Group as ministerial aides – the first time members of the snarling caucus of the hard Left whose president is Dennis Skinner – have entered government under a Labour prime minister.

If Burnham is a serial loser having twice failed to achieve success in Labour leadership contests, what does that make Abbott?

After Labour’s crushing 2010 election defeat Burnham finished fourth behind the winner Ed Miliband, his brother David and Ed Balls. He did, however, manage to come ahead of Abbott.

Supporters of his military-style takeover of Britain pointed to the fact he was untainted by shambles of the past two years and previous Labour regimes. Not now.

Abbott, elected to Parliament in 1987 as MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, should have been consigned to dustbin of history.

Instead she has been welcomed back alongside fellow Labour MP Joani Reid – who “voluntarily” suspended herself from the party earlier this year after the arrest of her husband on suspicion of spying for China.

And it should leave millions petrified as to what comes next.

Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “Not only does she herself represent a throwback to the Corbyn years when she was so prominent – the period when Labour became institutionally antisemitic according to the EHRC – but so does her readmission to the Party, whose processes were widely viewed as unfit for purpose. We were supposed to be past all this, but it seems like the moment Sir Keir Starmer makes way for Andy Burnham, Labour risks turning the clock back. Her readmission is a bad omen.”
