Brace yourself for a uniparty stitch-up on social care – no wonder Nigel Farage is fuming_c
OPINION – JONATHAN SAXTY: If Andy Burnham is serious about solving Britain’s social care crisis, Reform UK must be involved in negotiations

Nigel Farage has called out a ‘uniparty’ stitch-up by newly-coronated PM Andy Burnham. The new Labour leader and TikTok darling has invited the Tory and Lib Dem leaders to meet over Labour’s social care plans which, by the way, were never in the 2024 manifesto Our Andy is allegedly sticking to.
The Reform boss accused Burnham of “conspiring behind closed doors with the failed political establishment”. Farage said: “If Andy Burnham is serious about putting politics aside to solve Britain’s biggest problems, it’s remarkable that he’s chosen to ignore the party that led over 300 national opinion polls and represents thousands of councillors and millions of Britons across the country.”
Burnham – basking in his honeymoon after a brief poll bounce – is set to make social care announcements on July 29. Farage said of the spectacle: “The fact Ed Davey and Kemi Badenoch are going along with this tells you all you need to know about their parties. This is the uniparty in action.”
Big tax rises will be needed for this – likely a topic of discussion between Burnham and his establishment chums. By the way, it’s remarkable that after 14 years of abject failure, there are some folks still willing to give Badenoch’s Tories a chance – the party which botched Brexit, caused the Boriswave, stuffed contractors through IR35 rules and saddled us with record-breaking debt. Just two years ago as well.
Badenoch has some nerve criticising early release of prisoners when it was her Conservative Party which started this crazy scheme back in 2023 – in no small part because the Tories failed to build prisons (and that was with tax rises hammering working people!).
The fact the Tories and Lib Dems are competing across the South and South West for the same type of seats tells us all we need to know. And Farage is rightly incensed. This is the very same media-political establishment which went on a fishing expedition against him while it quietly ignored the financial shenanigans of sitting Labour luminaries, and that’s with much of the mainstream press offering only softball questions to the man in the black T-shirt.
Burnham can only serve up Starmerism without Starmer. All the cringey social media videos on Britain’s best pub crisps can’t disguise the fact this government has no plan whatsoever to fix the big issues of immigration, crime or the economy. Now we see the uniparty stitch-up in all its glory too.
