Meghan Markle has reportedly suffered another huge blow as Taylor Swift narrows down wedding guests. The beloved US megastar and her husband-to-be, Travis Kelce, are set to tie the knot in a lavish wedding celebration on Friday, July 3. While the exact location of the highly anticipated ceremony is yet to be confirmed, the wedding guest list has been officially finalised.
According to celebrity journalist Rob Shutter, the Duchess of Sussex was more than eager to be invited to the Hollywood wedding of the year, but it appears the Lover hitmaker is keeping her distance. According to The Mirror US, a source said about their upcoming nuptials: “Taylor wants to look around the room and recognise every face.
“She doesn’t want people there simply because they’re famous. Swift has no interest in turning her wedding into a power summit, ” adding that the singer wants “a celebration, not a networking event.”
According to Daily Mail, Taylor Swift’s wedding guest list has been carefully curated for her big day. A source told the outlet: “Taylor has meticulously gone through her wedding guest list because the people she wants at the wedding are the people she hopes will remain in her life forever.”
It is understood that the Duchess of Sussex was “desperate” to secure an invite to the star-studded reception. A source told Mr Shutter on his Substack: “This was never just about attending a wedding.
“For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years.” Despite Prince Harry and Meghan missing out on the lavish event, it appears there could be a few royal faces spotted in the crowd.
The Prince of Wales recently told listeners on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden that he could be invited to the A-list event. Jamie teased: “We believe there is a big wedding happening this summer…”
To which the future King replied with a smile: “No comment. I’m hoping, and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see.” Fans will have to wait and see which familiar faces will celebrate The Love Story singer’s big day this summer.
