Meghan Markle’s mountain hike video goes viral after Princess Kate hits major milestone

The Duchess of Sussex’s video showing her climbing down a mountain has resurfaced.

Princess Kate takes on the National Three Peaks Challenge

Meghan Markle’s video showing her scooting down a hill has gone viral on social media after Princess Catherine announced her latest milestone. The Princess of Wales trekked 23 miles over the weekend and completed the Three Peaks Challenge in less than 24 hours.

Catherine climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – undertaking the trekking challenge on her own, with support from Mountain Rescue along the way, to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Her achievement was shared on social media, with fans worldwide congratulating her. Meanwhile, some royal fans were quick to draw comparisons between the Princess of Wales and her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex, by resharing an old video of Meghan during a hiking trip with Prince Harry.

In the video, shown in the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries, Meghan can be seen struggling to climb down a hillside.

The duchess is seen sliding down the hill on her bottom, using her hands for support.

Prince Harry can be heard saying: “She’s happy to go up the hill, but hates going down the hill.”

Meghan then replied: “We don’t have that much far to go,” before the Duke showed the distance down the trail.

Fans drew comparisons with Catherine’s trek, with one user writing on X: “Thank goodness she never attempted the National 3 peak climb with Princess Catherine…she’d still be there.”

Another one admitted: “This is the only observation I have. I once was terrified of heights and had to take cognitive therapy to remove the phobia. I once did this same butt crawl down a high hill in a National Park. The difference: I didnt post my weakness online thinking it made me adorable.”

A third one said: “I have never seen anything like this in my life.”

A fourth one commented: “That’s a very easy hill to go down. You step down sideways and follow what looks like a path with good spots to steady your steps. She’s ridiculous.”

Meanwhile, another user defended the duchess, saying: “Can you not praise the Princess of Wales without trying to degrade and belittle the Duchess of Sussex at the same time? “Good grief, Catherine’s achievement should be applauded on its own merit. Insulting Meghan at the same time is not the flex you think it is.”

A second one added: “Just stop the denigration.”

A third one commented: “It’s clear she’s goofy around in that but leave it to you freaks to come up with something or comparing women.”

On Sunday, the Princess of Wales completed the trek and was welcomed at the finish by the Prince of Wales, their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – as well as her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton.

Kensington Palace said they believed the expedition was a royal first, with the princess being the first member of the Royal Family to complete the Three Peaks.

The royals celebrated the undertaking, with the monarchy’s official social media account posting: “Congratulations to The Princess of Wales.”
